Aesthetic tendencies in recent years have seen greater attention been given to areas of our body that were previously disregarded. If you have been left with loose or shapeless skin around your bottom and thighs after losing a large amount of weight, a buttock lift could help to give you a smoother, more trim looking figure.

Buttock lift (gluteoplasty) is a surgical procedure to remove excess fat and loose skin in the buttock area and may be combined with liposuction to further improve body contour.

There are several different procedures that can be used to improve the buttock shape and appearance. The buttock can be lifted through surgical incisions and suturing, reshaped with liposuction, added to with buttock implants or fat, or a combination of any of the above can be used. Your choice of treatment will depend on what shape your body is and what your specific goals may be.

A buttock lift is the most complicated procedure of those mentioned above and is generally reserved for patients who have large amounts of loose or sagging skin around the buttocks that needs to be removed in order to reshape the bottom.

Buttock lift Surgery Procedure Steps

The buttock lift procedure involves cutting the skin high up on the side of the thigh and buttocks, removing excess fat and trimming away the excess skin. Liposuction and implants may also be used to create the results the patient desires. The scars are strategically placed at the waistline or below to minimize their appearance while wearing swimwear or underwear.

The buttock lift operation takes two to five hours to perform under general anesthetic and normally involves an overnight stay. If it is combined with other procedures you will spend more time in theatre. Your cosmetic surgeon will discuss this fully with you in your consultation.
